WTF? What's The Fashion? Colored Jeans

Of course every lady has a pair of denim jeans in their closet but the colored jean is "de rigueur" of the year! Colored denim is such a fun trend with so many options for everyone to enjoy whether or not they are feeling bold and bright. For those not completely convinced that a pair of colored jeans are practically essential for the season, test the waters by investing in a light blue skinny. This colored jean is easily to blend with most of the items in your closet. But for the risk takers, green, cobalt or crimson denim add the perfect pop of color to any outfit. Keep your top and accessories subtle to keep the focus on the jeans where it should be without looking like you stepped out of a crayon box. If you decide to wear a printed top other than a solid one in black or white hues, wear one with small prints that will allow you to pull one of the colors to match your colored skinnies. Transition this multi-shaded summer skinny into fall by going from light colors such as pink, blues and yellows to more darker deeper shades like forest, maroon or navy.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Tie-Neck Tops

Fall may be on the horizon, but floral prints are still in bloom and you gotta love it when your accessories are built right into your wardrobe. Utilize your blouse's neck-tie as a feminine sash, making this top a staple in your closet. This type of blouse is a fancy twist on the classic button-up and offers a fresh alternative to the scarves of early-fall into late winter. Along with floral prints, search for styles in solid colors, tiny polka-dots and other small prints as well. No need for large loud prints when the tie-neck is all the embellishment you would need. While fresh and hot right now, I am sure you can reminesce on this look being worn by your beloved grandmother. However, you can definitely find some fabulous vintage or thrifty tie-neck blouses, but avoid looking matronly by choosing blouses in high quality fabrics and body-skimming, tucked-in styles. The key here is to wear it in a way that shows off your curves. You can go classic or blushing but the best way to work this trend is to pair a tie-neck blouse with a trendy high-waisted, wide-legged jean or trouser and with a pair of peep-toe platform pumps.
Here are some ways you can transform your tie-neck top into other très chic looks:
~For a menswear-inspired look, wear a cotton tie-neck top with a skinny jean paired with another one of the season's must-have items: the long boyfriend blazer.
~Go for sheer by tucking a transparent tie-neck top into a high-rise, wide-leg jean or pant and finish it off with a slim-fitting cropped blazer.
~Become a stylish naughty secretary by wearing a silk charmeuse tie-neck top tucked into a silhouette-enhancing pencil skirt atop a pair of glossy patent leather shoes.
~Put on a jumper dress over your favoirte tie-neck top with patterned stockings and high-heeled leather boots for a grade-school inspired ensemble that's all grown up.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Fringe-Hems

Fringe hems: a detail in many clothing apparel, have inspired designers for decades into creating swooned-over styles that we admire today. Fringe fashions come in two popular forms. There's the wild and free flapper fringe and the swing and sway bohemian fringe, both if not worn correctly can be a fringy fashion faus pas. Designed for modern times, the flapper fringe gives a mysterious, hide-the reveal appeal with more of a hard-edge while bohemian style fringes are longer and thicker and are more cool and casual. When wearing fringes, it's about minimalism. To wear it successfully in different ways, the silhouette and shape should be print-less and neutral in color. Flapper fringes work best on dresses and skirts while bohemian styles work better especially in bare-cut tops. Avoid wearing fringes on the bottom to keep from looking like a hippie or a vaudeville performer.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Fedoras

Whether you feel like being a badass or maybe you just wanna stylishly salute the King of Pop, you are sure to have fun flippin' on your fedora. However, for the summertime, leave your tuxedo vests and ties in the closet, but don't put away that fedora just yet! Instead, wear it with your maxi skirt and a dolman top, or a tank with a pair of denim shorts. The fedora goes from gangsta to glamour for everyday chic. Fedoras can be picked up anywhere, from department stores to shoe retailers. Woven or straw, top off your casual-wear look for the rest of the summer in your very own fabulous fedora!

WTF? What's The Fashion? Snake-Print Pumps

Last year, we were lovin' the leopard which has been making a comeback this year. But another animal-inspired print has been stalking the scene and slithering its way to the top of the continuing popular trends, and are still footwear favorites of many snake-inspired starlets. A snakeskin accessory is considered sleek and sexy that can make any party attire more exotic. Any classic ensemble that is already sleek, sexy and versatile can have more exotic appeal with a serpent's charm. There is no question that the snakeskin heel is the go-to animal-printed shoe of the season. I guess the ultimate question is, how can you possibly turn this look into a fash faux pas? I honestly feel that there is no way this look can be made disastrous, unless you wanna go head to toe snake-print (see "Fashion Says . . .") and all of you practically know the basics of dressing up a simple dress or jumper with a patterned accessory. You would want your ensemble solid in color so it's not competing with the print on the bottom. The snakeskin print is made up of basic neutrals so it can practically be worn with any colored outfit outside of the traditional black and white; Katie Cassidy wore it best in her summer haute-hued body-con! Make it a collective look with a matching clutch or add a small touch of hissing charm by wrapping your finger in a coil-snake ring. WTF? What's The Fashion? Little Blue Dresses w/ Colored Heels

This trend is another favorite of mine because of course it concerns playing with colours. A little colored dress is the epitome of versatility and trend-setting allowing you to use your own style and imagination to make this outfit completely your own. Clearly, the trend right now is the LB(lue)D with colored heels. Throw out that traditional thinking that with this colored dress you must wear nude, black, gold or silver pumps. Now they're being seen in fuschia, purple and coral. Whether platform or peeptoe, as long as it has colour and height, complete it with your cool blue number and you're right on trend. Since the dress is solid in colour, go for cutouts, ruffles, ties and bows with a solid colorful heel. But also I believe since the dress is seen in a solid colour that putting on a printed multi-hued pump will really give this look pop and flavor. Step into some soft suede or glossy patent pairs to continue the trend of bold and vibrant colors of the season with your electrifying cobalt dress.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Denim Dresses

Who doesn't love Denim? It's the all-American fabric that has become the hottest trend every season, year after year. Denim is finding newer and fresher ways of being updated after being dyed, be-dazzled, distressed and faded. Now it's cut short and tailored up higher. If you don't have one, you gotta get this summer's updated style of dress, the denim dress. There are so many ways you can rock this jean frock. Create a kickin' rockin' look by investing in an embellished dress or drape a sparkle or lacy cardigan over your shoulders to transition your casual day dress into night. For me, my favorite way of wearing my strapless dark denim dress is with a black 3/4-sleeved blazer, black leather heels and a pair of gold door-knockers and bangles. A denim dress requires specific types of accessories to go along with it. The key to wearing a denim dress is accessorizing. A denim dress is made of a solid type of fabric that is usually not all that exciting unless it has a belt or studs, so accessorizing is key. A multi-faceted necklace would be ideal. Jewelry in colors such as gold, wooden or turquoise even yellow are only a few of many glamorous choices when completing your jean look. A pair of cute flats, great gladiator sandals and lots of bracelets or chunky bangles for a well put together look can really up-the-anty. The denim dress is a casual dress that you usually wouldn't wear to a formal event. Gorgeous silver or gold jewelry and metallic heels can make your denim dress give the "dressed up" look for an evening social. Which ever way you choose, join the denim mania by updating your wardrobe with a jean dress but to pull off your look, chic-ally, it's all in the accessorizing. Jeanius!

WTF? What's The Fashion? Sleeveless Buttoned-Up Blouses

Opposite of the traditional long-sleeved version, the buttoned-up sleeveless shirt is a summer staple designated for the office. . . until now. Bare your arms and show your shoulders by transitioning this blouse (usually worn underneath a blazer and tucked into a pencil skirt) from desk work to the streets. Untuck your blouse and switch out your skirt for some skinny jeans. Kick off your pumps, put on a pair of flattering flats and you're on your way. For a little street chic, follow Pippa's example on how to sport this splendid sleeveless style while out shopping at an open-air mall in the afternoon. Shenae keeps it young and fresh with a tied-up, more relaxed style of the sleeveless shirt. She "clocks out" the office look by making no connection whatsoever with an administrative attire. It's highly expected for 'The Heiress' to class up the sleeveless blouse with a pair shorts in neutral blush tones as if she was driving in her convertible on her way to the beach house. You are seeing three completely different ways that this shirt can be worn for virtually three different occasions. I encourage all my stylistas to incorporate their own take on the trend. With a switch of accessories and bottoms go from chic exec to casual cool! This sleeveless top allows you to wear as many of your favorite bangle sets that you wish to show-off. Remember that this buttoned-up blouse is versatile. Pick up a few of the latest designs in current colors for the office. Hey, a glamour girl's still gotta work and I want her to look fab doing it! But afterwards; meet up with the girls, enjoy a sip of wine and engage in some gossip at an outdoor patio of your fave cafe without them even knowing that you wore that top to the 8-5!

WTF? What's The Fashion? Tribal and Ikat Printed Dresses

Ikat and Aztec prints have created tribal inspirations for designers such as Mara Hoffman, Missoni and Gwen Stefani. Like them, you too can be an escapist of fashion absorb yourself in trend of tribal-print dresses. As you have been made aware of many times before, sundresses are a summer staple but that doesn't mean you have to wear it in the form of a floral frock. A tribal sundress such as Paris Hilton's, creates a base for your summer wardrobe. Go from classic to ethnic by accentuating the pattern with fringe details like Chloe's Versace dress. For those who are totally embracing this blazing look can be as daring as Kim Kardashian by going head-to-toe tribal in a maxi dress or you can always opt for a printed skirt. Gladiator sandals are the perfect footwear but opt for basic black or nude when wearing this vivid pattern. With these printed dresses, keep the accessories to a minimum. But if you are not completely converted to this ethnic look, test drive it by investing in a beaded clutch or patterned scarf.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Round Sunglasses

Stylishly protect your precious eyes for the rest of the summer in round sunnies. I want you to experiment with your style just as Ms. Whitney Port has with her bright orange-colored framed sunnies. Channel your inner Beatle and pay homage to John Lennon by giving yourself a rocker's edge by pairing a dark framed, dark lensed sunny with a graphic tee like rising rocker, Miley Cyrus. Add some studded jewelry pieces and leather boots to keep your look up to celebrity standards. Kelly Osbourne is no stranger to edgy risk-taking fashion. Her dark round sunnies add excitement and really pop with her brightly-colored yellow top. What's great about these circular sunnies is that they have an undertone of a vintage vibe and old school charm that can add character to any outfit in your summer wardrobe.

Take your shoes to new heights with a little sophistication and flirtation with oxford heels. These preppy pumps can spruce up any day-wear attire and add some chic appeal to a skirt suit for work.
Make your future bright with each step in vibrant colored oxfords. Sold by popular brands such as Urban Outfitters and Miss Me, it's gonna be hard to miss yet alone overlook these poppin' fun footwear. Warm-weather-friendly and complimentary to any causal outfit consisting of a graphic tee or boyfriend cropped jeans, these flats with a bit of menswear inspiration can be infused easily into your everyday look.
Many of my clients who want a little menswear influence incorporated into their wardrobe are not huge fans of the bright and bold colors, and instead prefer the neutral tones like a classic black or solid cognac or taupe color which are all very versatile with other closet pieces. I advice however, when wearing toned down brogues to amp up your outfit with a bright colored skirt or top and of course when wearing brogues in fluorescent shades to keep the outfit basic in colors.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Sleeveless Dresses

Sleeveless dresses are a summer staple. They are a sophisticated yet simple number that can create an effortlessly fabulous look. Any sleeveless dress whether strapless, tank or spaghetti strapped, can easily be dressed up with a jacket, a pair of open-toed heels and shimmering jewelry or toned down with large-framed glasses, a floppy hat and bedazzled sandals. To me, Halle Berry can do no wrong and looks gorgeous as always in her figure-friendly, curve-hugging silhouette. But for this summer trend, it is recommended to go a little more flirty and a little less sultry like Jessica and Kate's frock. Either way you choose to wear your sleeveless dress, you will always be able to show off that "I don't need to try hard to look this good" mystique!
